"Keep the Menu Small"

Apparently, NY/NJ diners pay the price for their gigantic menus. New York Magazine just published a feature where they profiled different businesses and how they manage to turn a profit. One of those businesses is the Silver Star diner in the Upper East Side of NYC. Check out the article here.

(Also, not surprising is that their least profitable customers are the elderly, who tend to return food.)

Mob Hits and Diners

There's been some recent news about a possible mob hit outside the Seville Diner on Rt 18 in New Jersey. This of course reminds me of a 1993 mob hit that took place outside the Melrose Diner across the street from the house my mom grew up in in South Philly.

There's something about diners and cold-blooded retribution, Mafia-style. They just go together. Like hash browns and eggs.
